Ages 7 years and Up

Jazz 1 (7+ yrs)

Expanding upon the foundation of Intro to Jazz, Jazz 1 will start to introduce the importance of stretching, strengthening, and body conditioning. More complex steps including leaps and turns will start to be introduced. Across the floor and choreography combinations will be a major focus. Different styles of jazz including Broadway, jazz funk, and Fosse will start to be discussed.

Tap 1 (7+ yrs)

Tap 1 takes the Taplettes curriculum and spices it up! Adding more complex, embellished steps to the class while stressing unison, clarity, and execution helps these tappers increase their confidence with rhythm and musical structure.

Ballet 1 (7+ yrs)

Building upon fundamentals of classical ballet learned in Pre-Ballet, Ballet 1 will expand upon French vocabulary, barre, center, and choreography while adding more complexity and increasing difficulty. Class etiquette and traditions of ballet will be stressed in this level as dancers learn the structure of class and the importance of professionalism and respect. Our ballet curriculum is based upon the Vaganova technique while incorporating other styles including Balanchine and Cecchetti.

Jazz 2 (8+ yrs)

Building upon fundamentals of Jazz 1, Jazz 2 increases the difficulty of body conditioning while increasing complexity and vocabulary of leaps, turns, and kicks. Different types of choreography including lyrical and Broadway jazz will be explored. Execution and body alignment will be stressed in this more advanced level.

Tap 2 (8+ yrs)

Tap 2 adds to the wealth of vocabulary learned in Tap 1 while increasing complexity of steps. Focusing on unison, clarity, and sounds continues to be stressed. Introducing harder tap concepts such as pullbacks and wings, Tap 2 is faster and flashier as the curriculum goes on!

Ballet 2 (8+ yrs)

While Ballet 1 lays the foundation for technique, Ballet 2 focuses more upon proper body alignment, turnout, execution, balance, and strength. Because Ballet 2 is a preparation for the most advanced level, Ballet 3, and is considered a preparation for pointe shoes, students may study in this level for more than one year until they show a mastery of the steps and concepts of the course. Our ballet curriculum is based upon the Vaganova technique while incorporating other styles including Balanchine and Cecchetti.

Contemporary (8+ yrs)

Designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer with experience in either ballet or jazz, Contemporary takes the fundamentals of dance technique and begins to bend and break them with exciting choreography, floor work, and musicality. Contemporary melds ballet, jazz, modern, and lyrical dance to a myriad of musical styles and speeds.

Jazz 3 (9+ yrs)

With technique and strength gained in Jazz 1 and Jazz 2, Jazz 3 is a more advanced, choreographic exploration of Jazz dance.
