Faculty and Students Performing Together

Music & Dance Academy works together with Tucson and Oro Valley arts organizations, businesses and associations to bring educational and enrichment opportunities to our students and the community at large. Student and Faculty Concerts, workshops and master classes with leading educators are offered each year. The Academy partners with local schools and community organizations to offer music and dance education. Students enrolled at the Academy benefit from special opportunities and discounts offered by community partners.

The Music & Dance Academy is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, the National and Tucson Music Teachers Association, The Suzuki Association of the Americas, and The Arizona Suzuki Association.

Public Recitals and Gala Concerts

Each year, Academy students participate in public recitals and Gala Concerts in the bookstores, community centers, retirement communities, bringing the gift of music to the community at large. These performances offer an invaluable performing experience for the student and provide the public an opportunity to observe the youth of Tucson taking an active role in tomorrow’s bright future.

Community Festivals

Music & Dance Academy participates in various festivals and Fairs throughout the greater Tucson region. (Family Arts Festival, Oro Valley Arts in the Park, Tucson Baby Fair)

Faculty Artist Concert Series

Featuring live performances by distinguished Academy faculty performers in the metropolitan Tucson area.

Magic Rug Concert Children’s Concert Series

Rug Concerts introduce young students to a variety of music instruments and dance styles of diverse cultures and time periods. Professional musicians and dancers bring stories are brought to life in these interactive concerts. Performances by musicians and dancers break down the "fourth wall" and encourage audience participation on the "Magic Rug" with the performers, where they get to experience hands-on participation utilizing rhythm instruments, movement, dance, and song. Concert goers explore the workings of different families of instruments. Dancers guide to the audience through the creative movement in discovering the relationship of music movement as expressive thematic elements of an original story.

Fables, Tall Tales and Music for Me!

Barnes and Noble Booksellers hosts this interactive concert series that takes well-known, and newly published children’s literature, and offers children an opportunity to experience the wonderful partnership between music and the written word. This rich storytelling series offers a ‘hands-on’ storytelling experience where children may participate using simple instruments. Young children, and the young at heart, will delight in this happy marriage of children’s literature and live music!

Annual Winter Workshops

Workshops and master classes are offered each year with nationally and internationally renowned artists and leading master teachers, providing students and teachers a valuable resource for growth and enrichment. Open to the public.
